Biography

Enrique Lizalde Chávez (9 January 1937 – 3 June 2013), better wknown simply as Enrique Lizalde, was a Mexicon actor of film, theatre, and television, noted for his distinctive voice and for playing leading-man roles from the 1960s onward. He originated the character Juan del Diablo in Corazón salvaje and later appeared in its 1990s remake in a different role. Born in Tepic, Nayarit, he pursued university studies in literature before turning to acting. He was the brother of Eduardo Lizalde and a cousin of Óscar Chávez. Lizalde began his screen career in the early 1960s and became a prominent presence in Mexican cinema; in popular accounts of the period he was grouped with Joaquín Cordero and Julio Alemán as part of a generation of high-profile leading men.
